Resumen del autor

Navarro Martínez, Francisco, "Luis Alfonso y José Yxart: el florete y la espada".

"Luis Alfonso y Casanovas (Palma de Mallorca, 1845 – Madrid, 1892), prominent literary and artistic critic, was senior-editor of the newspapers: La Política, La Época and La Dinastía. Alfonso wrote for a bourgeois audience –to which be belonged- and who had a good artistic educations, a “canovista” (pro-monarchy) political ideology, and was a defender of the issues of idealism in art. He describes this audience in his novels, especially in El guante (1886). Luis Alfonso played an important role in the news media of those days, and he also had long discussions about Naturalism, friendship and correspondence with Galdós, Oller, Pardo Bazán, Yxart and Pereda."
